Electrolysis by Violet

Rejuvenate your skin.

What is Electrolysis and how does it work?
right for you?

Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal performed by using an electric current to seal the hair follicle. During treatment a thin filament (needle) is inserted along the hair to reach the root of the follicle. A small electric current is applied to cauterize the blood supply from the hair follicle and then forceps (tweezers) are used to remove the hair. With no source of nutrition the hair is unable to grow back after being removed, leading to the permanent hair removal electrolysis is known for.

What do I do to prepare for a
treatment?

Book NOW
01

Drink water.

Electrolysis works best on skin that is well hydrated. This allows the electrical current a path of low resistance to travel through to the blood vessels supplying the follicle, making your treatment significantly more effective.
02

Allow 3 to 5 days growth in the area to be treated.

The rule is, if I can see the hair, I can treat the hair. As long as I'm able to get a hold of it with my forceps, then I can absolutely treat that hair.
03

Ensure there are no cuts

wounds, or rashes in the area to be treated. For safety and hygiene reasons, areas that have any of these three cannot be treated until the area is clear.

What can I do during my treatment to help?

01

During your treatment, it's about your comfort. Electrolysis can be an uncomfortable sensation, so we look for ways to minimize that discomfort while still having an effective treatment.
So if talking with me helps you feel more comfortable, then that's what you do.
If you want to work on your phone (or play), then that works too.
Headphones? Absolutely! If listening to music, podcast, or audiobook helps then I 100% endorse this. If whale songs or baby sharks help you feel at ease, then I say doo do doo do do do.

How should I take care of the treated area after my appointment?

  • Do not Touch, Scratch, Tweeze, Pluck, or Pick at it! Basically, leave it alone. You heard me.
  • Apply a cold compress/ice pack/bag of frozen peas to help reduce inflammation
  • Avoid exercise for 24 hours, to prevent the skin from overheating
  • Avoid sun, hot tubs, and pools for 48 hours (for sun exposure, you can use a mild sun block
    lotion)
  • Do not apply make-up, or shave the area for 24 hours
  • If you have a reaction, or have concerns, take a picture, and email it to me. I will let you know
    how to proceed.
  • Last, but most important: Make sure to book regular appointments for a more effective
    treatment plan.

Electrolysis  f.a.q.

common questions

Is Electrolysis safe on tattoos?

Yes! Electrolysis is perfectly safe on tattooed skin, as it impacts the hair follicles themselves, instead of the pigment of the hair and skin.

Does Electrolysis work on light hair?

Electrolysis is the perfect hair removal method for those who have light or pigment free hair, including blond, red, gray, and white, which other hair removal methods can struggle with.

But what if I’m still not sure if it will work for me?

That’s just fine! Book in for a Free Consultation, and we will test a small patch of hairs, to see if you’re a good candidate!
